FormuLab exists to help you understand engineering, not to sell your information. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the safeguards we put in place. We stick to the principle of collecting the minimum needed to deliver a great experience.

1. Information we collect
- Account basics: name, email, school or organization (optional), and password hash.
- Usage data: formulas viewed, features used, device/browser metadata, and crash logs to debug issues.
- Workspace content: notes, saved formulas, and uploads that you choose to store in FormuLab.
- Billing details: handled securely by our payment processor (we never store full card numbers).
2. How we use your information
- Deliver core functionality like syncing workspaces and remembering your preferences.
- Improve the library and product through aggregated analytics and feature usage trends.
- Send essential emails such as receipts, security alerts, or major product updates.
- Provide customer support and troubleshoot bugs you report.
3. What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
- We never mine your private workspaces to train models without your consent.
- We never allow advertisers to target you using your personal data.
4. When we share data
We only share data with trusted partners who help us run FormuLab, and only under strict agreements:
- Infrastructure providers (hosting, storage, analytics) with strong security certifications.
- Payment processors to complete transactions.
- Integration partners you explicitly enable (e.g., calendar exports or LMS connections).
We may disclose information to comply with legal requirements or protect our community from abuse.
5. Data retention and deletion
- We keep your account data while your account is active.
- You can export or delete your workspaces at any time from settings.
- When you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6. Security
- All traffic is encrypted in transit using TLS, and sensitive data is encrypted at rest.
- Access to production systems is limited to trained team members and protected by multi-factor authentication.
- We monitor for suspicious behavior and run routine security reviews of our stack.
7. Student and educator privacy
FormuLab was designed for academic use. We comply with student privacy regulations such as FERPA (US) and the equivalent principles in other regions. Schools can request data processing agreements and can control access for their cohorts upon request.
8. International data transfers
We store data in Canada and trusted cloud regions. If data is transferred outside your jurisdiction, we rely on standard contractual clauses or comparable safeguards.
9. Your rights
- Access, update, or delete your personal information.
- Request a copy of the data you have provided.
- Object to certain processing or withdraw consent where applicable.

10. Cookies and similar tech
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and remember preferences. Optional analytics cookies help us improve the product. You can adjust cookie preferences in your browser at any time.
11. Updates to this policy
We’ll update this Privacy Policy when we launch new features or change how we handle data. Major updates come with in-app or email notifications so you can review them comfortably.
